Copyright Statement and Licence Agreement

This teaching material, comprising computer software ("the Software") and accompanying documentation ("the Documentation"). It was produced under the auspices of the STEPS consortium, funded by the Teaching and Learning Technology Programme of the UK Higher Education Funding Councils. It is proprietary to the Universities involved.

  1. ACCEPTANCE

    Either - YOU SHALL BE DEEMED TO HAVE ACCEPTED THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE BY LOADING AND OPERATING THE SOFTWARE. or: - BY CLICKING ON THE "ACCEPT" BUTTON, YOU ARE CONSENTING TO BE BOUND BY AND ARE BECOMING A PARTY TO THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE.

  2. LICENCE

    Subject to the provisions contained herein, the University of Glasgow hereby grants you a non-exclusive licence to use the Software and the Documentation free of charge if you are a student, researcher or staff member of a not-for-profit educational institution. You are also permitted freely to copy and distribute the Software and its Documentation to any other student, researcher or staff member of any not-for-profit educational institution provided (i) that you do not make any charge or derive any commercial benefit from so copying and distributing the Software and its Documentation, and (ii) that this copyright notice and end-user licence agreement appears in all copies of the Software and its Documentation. If you are not a student, researcher or staff member of a not-for-profit educational institution then you are not licensed to use the Software and the Documentation, and any such use shall be an infringement of the University's copyright in the Software and the Documentation.

  3. TITLE

    All and any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights used or embodied in or in connection with the Software including all Documentation relating thereto is and shall remain the exclusive property of the University. Except as may be expressly permitted under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended by the Copyright (Computer Programs) Regulations 1992 or any other relevant national law you shall not dispose or display the Software upon the screen by use of debugging, editing, disassembling, decompiling, diagnostic or other such means for the purpose of copying the Software or any part thereof or translating it into another language. You further agree not to modify or create derivative works of the Software.

  4. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY

    This Software is provided free of charge on an 'as is' basis. No warranty is given by the University in relation to the Software of the uses to which it may be put by you, the user, or its merchantability, fitness or suitability for any particular purpose or conditions; and/or that the use of the Software and all documentation relating thereto by the Licensee will not infringe any third party copyright or other intellectual property rights. The University shall furthermore be under no obligation to provide support of any nature for the Software and the Documentation.

  5. LIMIT OF LIABILITY

    In no event shall the University be liable for any loss or damages whatsoever or howsoever caused arising directly or indirectly in connection with this licence, the Software, its use or otherwise except to the extent that such liability may not be lawfully excluded. Notwithstanding the generality of the foregoing, the University expressly excludes liability for indirect, special, incidental or consequential loss or damage which may arise in respect of the Software or its use, or in respect of other equipment or property, or for loss of profit, business, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings.

  6. TERMINATION

    The University may terminate this licence by notice if you are in breach of any term, condition or provision of this licence. On termination you shall pay to the University all and any costs and expenses, including legal and other fees incurred in respect of the Software, this licence or otherwise.
